  • 培育女性宗教師
    • 1980：創辦香光尼眾佛學院，培育佛教女性宗教師。任院長至今(2016)。
    • 1982：依佛制每年結夏安居、半月半月誦戒。
    • 1985：成立香光尼僧團，以群策群力弘揚佛陀教法。至今(2016)有百餘位比丘尼。任方丈至今。
    • 1995：引進南傳禪觀法門，每年舉辦僧眾二十日禪修課程。
    • 1993-1995：資助廈門南普陀寺閩南佛學院創建紫竹林寺為女眾修學道場。
    • 2009：舉辦2009佛教僧伽教育國際研討會。
  • 推廣佛教教育
    • 1984：創辦三年制「佛學研讀班」，提供社會大眾基礎佛教教育學程。
    • 1987-2006：創建六所寺院學校：每年開辦「佛學研讀班」、禪修課程、研讀佛教經論等。
    • 2006：在桃園大溪創建香光山寺。
  • 從事社會服務
    • 1999：這年台灣發生百年大地震(921)，設立「協助重建專案」為期二年，輔導災區學童課業，讓家長安心重建。
    • 2000：設立「外籍新娘生活適應輔導班」，關懷台灣新移民及其新生代的成長與適應。
  • 深耕佛教文化
    • 1982：成立香光尼眾佛學院圖書館，培植圖館專業人員；結合學術界修訂佛教圖書分類法；1997年因應數位時代，設立圖書資訊中心。
    • 1985：創辦香光莊嚴雜誌，任發行人暨總編輯，以平面暨多媒體弘揚佛法。
    • 1992：創辦香光書鄉出版社：引進南傳佛教思想，譯介泰國高僧佛使比丘著作； 編纂台灣佛學院院志；監修比丘尼釋天乙、釋明宗傳記。
  • 海內外講授比丘尼戒
    • 1993年起，於台灣佛教界三壇大戒會講比丘尼戒數次。
    • 1996：於印度菩提伽耶「西方尼僧戒律生活營」講比丘尼戒。此次講授後來編輯成 《選擇淡泊—比丘尼戒論述》一書。
    • 2004年在香港及緬甸仰光、2006年在馬來西亞佛學院等國講比丘尼戒。
  • 支持藏系尼僧建立比丘尼傳承
    • 1997：與學術界、佛教界合辦「比丘尼的台灣經驗」座談會，回應藏傳佛教領袖達賴喇嘛首次來台灣取經比丘尼經驗。
    • 2006：赴印度達蘭沙拉參加藏系比丘尼傳承討論會。
    • 2007：於德國漢堡大學國際會議發表〈藏傳佛教重建比丘尼具足戒的時代使命〉。
  • 建構傳統與現代融合的佛教建築
    • 1987：創建高雄紫竹林精舍。依據法華經典設計、打破傳統對稱式的佛教建築。此作品榮獲「第十九屆建築師雜誌獎」。
    • 1996：創建台中養慧學苑。佛教建築以開放式的空間，呈現與都市社區的互動。此作品榮獲「遠東建築設計傑出獎」、建築師雜誌「台灣建築獎」。
  • 個人著作
    • 《點石集》、《掬水集》、《以是因緣》、”Choosing Simplicity：A Commentary on the Bhikshuni Pratimoksha”；製播《生活中的緣起》、《修道生活的實踐》、《佛陀的最後一哩路》等DVD，以及單篇文章百餘篇於《香光莊嚴雜誌》、《青松萌芽》、《歷史》月刊等刊登。

The Contributions of Venerable Wu Yin

  • Cultivate female Dharma teachers
    • 1980: Founded Luminary Buddhist Institute for the education and training of bhikshunis.She has been the president of LBI since then .
    • 1982: Following the Buddha’s teaching to hold rain retreats every year and recitingprecepts every half month.
    • 1985: Founded Luminary International Buddhist Society and works on propagatingBuddhist teachings with team-spirit. So far (until 2016), there are over 100bhikshunis in LIBS. She has been the abbess since then.
    • 1995: Introduced Theravada meditation techniques and hold a twenty-day meditationcourse for monastics every year.
    • 1993-1995: Subsidized the Buddhist college of Minnan ,Nanputuo Temple, Xiamen toconstruct Zizhulin Temple for nuns’ education.
    • 2009: Hold the 2009 International Conference on Buddhist Sangha Education.
  • propagate Buddhist Education
    • 1984: Founded a three-year “Buddhist Adult classes” to offer the basic Buddhismeducation for public.
    • 1987-2006: Established 6 Dharma Centers in cities, which provide “Buddhist Adultclasses”, meditation courses and advanced Buddhist doctrines every year.
    • 2006: Establish a forest Dharma Center Xiang Guang Shan Temple at Dasi in Taoyuan
  • Engage in social service
    • 1999: To respond to desperate 921 earthquake in Taiwan, she set up the “Helping reconstruction project” to assist the children schoolwork in orderto let their parents be able to focus on reconstructing.
    • 2000: Set up the class for helping the foreign spouse localized, caring Taiwan’snew immigrants, and caring the growth and adaptation of the new generationsto the new life in Taiwan.
  • Deepen Buddhist culture
    • 1982: Founded Library of Luminary Buddhist Institute to cultivate the professionalsof the library, cooperated with the academy to revise “New Classification Schemefor Buddhist libraries”. To respond to the digital era, Library and InformationCenter was set in 1997.
    • 1985: Founded Luminary Magazine and served as the publisher and editor in Chiefsince then.
    • 1992: Founded Luminary Publishing Association, translated the works of AjahnBuddhadasa , compiled the history of many Taiwan Buddhist Institutes, andsupervised the biographies of Bhikshuni Tianyi Shi and Mingzong Shi.
  • Teach Bhikshuni precepts in Taiwan and overseas
    • Since 1993, she has been teaching bhikshuni precepts during the ordination ceremony in Taiwan for many times.
    • 1996: Taught bhikshuni precepts at Bodhgaya in India, in the camp of “Life as a WesternBuddhist Nun”, the teaching later was compiled into a book “ChoosingSimplicity: A Commentary on the Bhikshuni Pratimoksha”
    • 2004: Taught bhikshuni precepts in Hong Kong and Myanmar,
    • 2006: Taught bhikshuni precepts in Malaysia
  • Support Tibetan nuns to establish bhikshuni lineage
    • 1997:Co-organized a seminar “the experiences of Taiwan bhikshunis”, to respond toDalai Lama, the leader of Tibetan Buddhism, who first came to Taiwan to learnbhikshuni expereinces.
    • 2006: Left for Dharamsala in India to attend the symposium discussed on Tibetan bhikshuni Lineage.
    • 2007: Delivered a speech on “The Nobel Task for the Tibetan Buddhist Community :to Establish Bhikshuni Lineage” in the International conference at HamburgerUniversity, Germany。
  • Construct the Buddhist architectures which integrate the traditional and modern style.
    • 1987: Built Zizhulin Dharma Center in Kaohsiung. A Buddhist architecture breaks thetraditional symmetrical style and derives the design concepts from Lotus Sutra. Thiswork won the “ Nineteenth Architect Magazine Award”.
    • 1996: Built Yanghui Dharma Center in Taichung. A Buddhist architecture with an openspace presents the interaction with the modern city. This work won the “Far EastOutstanding Architect Award” and “Taiwan Architect Award”.
